STI & UTI Testing

STI Testing, UTI Testing and Testing for Vaginal Infections

Did you know that most sexually transmitted infections have no signs or symptoms? A big part of taking care of your health is getting tested! It’s always a good idea to include infection and STI testing as part of your routine health care. At carafem, we are experts at providing accurate information and quality medical care in a confidential and caring atmosphere you can trust. Our motto is it’s always better to be safe than sorry!

Here’s some good news. Most of our testing services are quick and painless and do not require a physical exam, aka you don’t have to take your clothes off. Should a test be positive, don’t stress. We will provide easy to understand information and treatment options all without judgement and based around your schedule.

Gonorrhea and Chlamydia Testing and Treatment

If you are looking for a test for some of the most common STIs, like gonorrhea or chlamydia, here’s what to expect. When you come to one of our health centers, you’ll meet with a clinician who will talk to you about your health history, then you’ll provide a urine sample (pee in a cup). We’ll send the sample to a local lab and you can expect results within 5 business days. Should one of the STI tests be positive, don’t worry, we got you.

Herpes Testing and Treatment

If you have a painful blister or sore in the genital area (vulva, penis, vagina or anus), a herpes screening test can be collected and analyzed at one of our centers. You can expect results within a few days but our clinicians can offer treatment much sooner. While there isn’t a cure for herpes, we can treat your symptoms and get you feeling better.

Vaginal Infection Testing

Part of our enhanced testing service includes testing for common vaginal infections. If you are experiencing itching or burning of the vulva or increased vaginal discharge, you may have a bacterial or yeast infection. These are easy to test for and treat. Similar to our other testing services, you will meet with a clinician and we, or you, will collect a vaginal swab for testing. Relief is usually available that same day.

Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) Testing and Treatment

Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) happen! They are common and the good news is we can treat them quickly and easily. We offer UTI testing in our office. All you have to do is provide a urine sample (pee in a cup), and based on results, we can write you a prescription during your visit.

What to Expect

If you are looking for any kind of the above testing, here’s what will happen. When you come to one of our health centers, you’ll have private one-on-one meeting with a clinician who will talk to you about your health history and symptoms. In some instances, you’ll be asked to provide a urine sample (pee in a cup) or to swab your vaginal area. While some STI tests can be done in house, most are sent out to laboratory for analysis. We typically get results within 5 days or less. Should your STI test be positive, don’t worry, we can help.
